If you are going to be going to another town (for a meeting, to visit family, etc.), be sure and check out their grocery stores and see what deals you can find while you are already there. Tonight, I'm going to Ponca City to speak at a Victim's Impact Panel meeting and was checking out the Food Pyramid ad. Food Pyramid doubles coupons up to 50 cents. So I can get Campbell's tomato and chicken noodle soups (on sale there this week for 59 cents a can) for 39 cents a can with my 40 cents off 4 coupon. They also have Spaghetti-O's on sale for $1 a can so I can get Spaghetti-O's for 60 cents a can with my 40 cents off 2 coupons. Last month when I went to Ponca City, I got Libby's veggies for 34 cents a can and Libby's fruit for 50 cents a can!
Some things to think about:
Be sure and read the coupon policy of the store you're planning to visit. Food Pyramid only doubles up to two like coupons. If the policy isn't online, then call the store and ask (be sure and get the name and take notes of what you find out).
If you are going to make a special trip to a grocery store, then be sure and figure out how much you'll need to save to make the trip worth your while! But if you're going to be in town anyway, the bargains you find are just a bonus!
