I'm interested in hearing about your good bargains! Have you found any lately? Let me tell you a little about a couple of mine. I got a $25 off $25 coupon for Sear's Automotive Center. I could use it to get something done on the car or in their automotive section. I used it to buy some Christmas gifts. I also had some Staples Rewards coupons and used those towards some Christmas gifts too. Don't you just love a good bargain?
To go along with my journey of getting out of debt, I'm going on a journey to cut costs using coupons. I will look for and share the good deals I find along the way! Scroll down to the bottom of the page for links to posts to help you get started!

This week, Jumbo's in Enid has 10 pound rolls of hamburger meat on sale for $1.99 a pound. Sadly, this is one of the best deals I've seen on hamburger meat in a while. Showing my age here, but remember when you could get hamburger meat on sale for 99 cents a pound? Sigh...

Pork chops for $1.69 a pound
Eat Smart veggie trays for $6.98
Green Giant frozen Valley Fresh Steamers for !.39 (and there were 75 cent coupons for those recently).
Dawn dish liquid (9 oz) for $1

Getting back in the groove
Well, I'm going to try to get back in the groove here. I've been pretty down in the dumps the last few weeks, but it's time to suck it up and move on. LOL.
This past weekend at Staples, they had some items that were 100% back in Staples rewards (which basically means I'll get a coupon for Staples with that money back). The items were Duracell batteries and Staples copy paper. I got two of each (the limit) as well as a package of Avery labels that had an $8 Staples rebate (making them $1.99). So I spent almost $50, but I"ll get all but $2 and the tax back. Keep an eye on the Staples ads, they can have some pretty good deals, especially as it gets closer to Christmas!

Bargains from last month
Here are some bargains I hadn't got around to posting about yet.
First of all from Dollar Tree:
General Mills Cheerios cereal for 50 cents a box after coupons and toothpaste for 25 cents a tube after coupons. I'm pretty excited about Dollar Tree taking coupons! Although they don't really understand their own coupon policy yet, I'm assuming it will get better.
And from Staples. Total after Back to School savings card (on the composition notebooks and computer paper) and Staples Rewards coupon (from turning in ink cartridges) was about $6. The little mini camcorder was on clearance for like $14-$15!

Wal-Mart's new coupon policy??
Has anyone ran into Wal-Mart's new coupon policy? I went in the one in Enid a couple of weeks ago and had several coupons to use. The cashier made a big deal of counting them and then informed me that their new policy limits customers to only 20 coupons per transaction. She told me it was a corporate decision so I went to the Wal-Mart Corporate website looking for information. This is what I found:
There is no limit on the number of coupons per transaction.
And this:
The system will prompt for supervisor verification for:
You can read the entire coupon policy here.
So, what do you think? A local store policy? Or a cashier who doesn't like coupons? I don't know that I've ever had more than 20 coupons, but I believe I'll print off this webpage to carry with me for future reference.

Dollar Tree to start accepting coupons!
My niece heard that Dollar Tree is going to start accepting coupons. Since I had just recently asked them if they did and been told no, I went to their website to get the details. Here is a link to their coupon policy, beginning August 26th. I've copied and pasted the text below:
IN-STORE COUPON ACCEPTANCE: GUIDELINES & LIMITATIONS
DOLLAR TREE WILL ACCEPT COUPONS IN STORES BEGINNING SUNDAY, AUGUST 26, 2012
- Only original and intact manufacturers’ coupons will be accepted. Retailer-specific coupons will not be accepted.
- Coupons are void if copied, scanned, or if they have been altered in any way.
- Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction.
- We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
- Coupons can only be used in stores and must be presented at time of purchase. Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash at a later time.
- Coupons will not be accepted without the purchase of the item specified and are subject to the terms listed (e.g. expiration date, size, limitations, quantity, etc.).
- Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
- Only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon will be accepted per item.
- Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities.
Wal-Mart and price matching
As I was leaving Wal-Mart on Saturday, I ran into a friend who asked me if I knew that Wal-Mart wouldn't match their own prices. Turns out that if they have an item online for less than the same item is in the store, they won't match their own price. Interesting, isn't it? I went to their website and looked at their ad match guarantee. Sure enough, it says they don't match internet pricing, but you'd think they'd match their own internet prices???? Thoughts, comments?

Interesting Article
Someone from the website Web2Carz sent me this article: Save your Food Budget from the Drought. At first I couldn't figure out why a car site was sending me a link to read and was naturally suspicious. LOL. Anyway, I went on over to the site and checked it out. Turns out they have an entire lifestyle session filled with interesting articles, as well as sections on people, tech, autos, and trends. If you get a chance, go check it out!

I'm still here
Yes, I am still here, haven't fallen into a hole or anything. LOL. I have no real good reason for not posting lately, but lots of excuses. It was a crazy week last week (meetings 3 nights, an interview Wednesday night), culminating with getting to go out of town Friday and Saturday for a child care conference. It was an awesome conference and I came back feeling revived and rejuvenated.
My goal this week is to post something everyday in the blog. So, here we go!

This week's extreme deal at Staples
Each week, Staples has been having great penny deals on school and office supplies. This week, if your child needs loose leaf notebook paper, you can pick it up for a penny at Staples. There is a limit of 5 per customer and you have to spend $5 to get the deal. But here's a hint, they also have Hammerhill copy paper for $6.99 a ream, with a $5.99 rebate. So, you can buy the $5 minimum and get most of it back in a few weeks! There is a limit of two rebates per household. So if you can go to Staples twice this week, you can get 2 reams of computer paper for $1each after rebate and 10 packages of notebook paper for a penny each.

Summer Slump?
Do you find it hard to get motivated to use coupons in the summer? The last few weeks have been so chaotic for me that I've hardly even looked at the coupons in the Sunday paper and I've certainly not cut any out. I need to get back in the groove! And this heat, ugh! It's hard to get motivated to do ANYTHING!!!!!
Just wondering if I'm the only one.

Be sure and check out Staples back to school ads!
Be sure and check out Staples ads each week during the back-to-school shopping season. They have some terrific deals! This week, you can get pocket folders, little packages of tissue, and paper clips for 1 penny each (with a $5 minimum purchase). You can also get a package of copy paper for $6.99 and get a $5.99 easy rebate (making the paper $1). There are limits on the special items, so if you need more, take an extra family member or two with you or plan on more than one trip!
Vacation Bible School & Vacation
Wow, the last two weeks have been a blur! Week before last (15th-20th), was Vacation Bible School at our church. I drove the bus and helped teach the 4th-6th grade class. I left here each day as soon as the kids left, got home around 9:30-9:45, then got up and did it all again. As soon as that week was over, my vacation started. On the 21st, we drove down to SW Oklahoma for my grandmother's 90th birthday party and then on Monday, we left for our vacation. We had alot of fun and a very relaxing time. We got home about 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. Our plane, which already didn't get in until almost 1:00 a.m. was late. I am definitely too old to be up until the wee hours of the morning like that! It took me all weekend to recover.
Anyway, today it's back to work! So, here we go!

Some good deals at United and Jumbo's this week
This week, Jumbo's in Enid has Hamburger, Chicken, and Tuna Helpers on sale for 99 cents. Using a 75 cents off three coupon, you can get those for 74 cents a box. The chicken and tuna helpers aren't always on the sales, so if you like those, take this chance to stock up on them!
United is having one of their Buy 5, save $5 sales and Planter's Peanut Butter is one of the products. With the promotion, it brings the price down to $1.49 a jar. Additionally, there was a $1 off ANY Planter's product coupon in the paper a couple of weeks ago (the only thing it excluded was pistachios), so you could get those for 49 cents a jar!

Vegas Trip
My parents gave Tom and I tickets to Las Vegas for our vacation (it's an early Christmas present). I found rooms downtown for $29 a night. So now, we are looking for non-gambling fun things to do and thought I would ask my readers for their ideas. So far I have got us tickets to see a comedian/magician downtown. I'm excited about it, especially since he doesn't use foul language! I don't get why so many of those guys think they need to use the F word to be funny. But I digress.
Have you been to Vegas? What were some of your favorite non-gambling things to do?

Brand Loyalty?
Do you have certain products that you are brand loyal to? You will only buy those, regardless of whether you have a coupon and whether or not it's on sale? For us, that product is peanut butter. We used to only buy Jif (before that I bought the Great Value brand at Wal-Mart and it was pretty good, but then the whole salmonella thing turned me off that and Peter Pan for good, LOL). Now that Planter's came out with a peanut butter, we mostly buy the Planter's. It doesn't matter if it's on sale, it doesn't matter if I have a coupon, that's what I buy.
Just curious whether anyone else is that way about certain items!

Using Gift Hulk
I have been using Gift Hulk for a while now and am finally feeling like I'm getting used to it. Here are some tips that may help you.
If you have any referrals, they have to earn at least 50 more Hulk Coins (after the original 50 they get for signing up) before you'll start getting any referral coins. Then you get a percentage of what they earn.
Watch your Gift Hulk e-mail newsletters because there is almost always a Gift Hulk code in them. These are entered at the Fountain of Youth to earn the coins. This is also where you enter my special Gift Hulk code you can get if you sign up using my referral link. The code is "cruisingwithcoupons" (without the quotes) and will earn you 25 more coins! It's only good a few more times though!
You can use the Gift Hulk search box to earn coins, they are randomly awarded.
One of the easiest ways to earn coins is to use the Treasure Box. You have a certain number of keys each day that you use to "unlock" the box and be randomly awarded Hulk Coins, extra keys, and other prizes.
There are also surveys, videos to watch, and the offer wall (none of which I've used too much so can't tell you about them yet).
If you haven't tried out Gift Hulk, check it out! For just a few moments a day, you can be on your way to earning coins and turning them into prizes!

Making some changes around here
After much thought and consideration, I've made a decision to change some things on the blog. I considered shutting down all together, but I really enjoy it, so I decided to keep going.
What's going to change? I'm going to stop trying to do the match-ups. I'm not that good at it (as evidenced by the fact that I don't keep up with it very well LOL) and there are tons of websites out there that do a much better job...
Money Saving Queen
Coupon Closet
Krazy Coupon Lady
...to name just a few. Let's face it, there is an over abundance of coupon sites with the popularity of the TLC show Extreme Couponing.
What will I be doing? I will continue to share my good deals, and I will watch the Jumbo's ad (since it's local to Enid) and alert you to any great deals I spot there. I will also continue writing product reviews. If you have an item or a website you want reviewed, let me know and I'll do it! If you spot a good deal you want to share, let me know and I'll post it on the blog (with a link back to your website!).
What are the reasons for doing this? Well, the main reason is that next month I will begin teaching an online college child development class. I know some things have to be cut out and changed to make room for this in my life (and it's a big part of my dreams, so...) Since I don't enjoy the match-ups that much but I do enjoy sharing my deals and writing reviews, I have made the decision to focus more on that.
Thanks for your support!

Product review: Lipton Tea & Honey
I got a free sample for Lipton Tea & Honey in the mail. It's flavored iced green tea mix, the flavor I got was Pineapple Mango. It's similar to the Crystal Light packets; you pour it into a 16 oz bottle or stir it into 2 cups of water. It has 5 calories per serving. I loved it! It was very flavorful and not too sweet. My only problem with it was it seemed very hard to get it mixed up well.
Would I buy it again? I probably will, they sent me a coupon and I'm going to look at the store and try it out.

Product Review: Kidco Outlet Cover
Last summer, I had a horrible time with my toddlers unplugging my fan in the living room. It got to the point where I just unplugged at the start of every day and then plugged it back in at night. After the winter, I had hoped maybe they'd outgrown it, but no such luck. I did not want to go through another summer without my fan on during the day, so I started looking for a solution and I found this on Amazon:
It not only shortens the cord, it also keeps the kids from being able to mess around with the plug. I've had it for a couple of months now and it is super! It was very easy to install, just took me a couple of minutes. My only problem with it was that it was almost too hard for me to open at first, but I've managed to get the hang of it now. So, I have no complaints. Now if I can just get them to quit turning the darn thing on and off!!! Geesh!

Awesome K-Mart deals last night!
Last night, I went to K-Mart after a meeting I had in Enid. If you don't already know this, Shop Your Way Reward Card members can double coupons up to $1. The conditions are that you have to spend $25 on health/beauty and/or grocery items and they will only double up to 5 of them. I asked last night and you can USE more than 5, but they'll only double the first five. Last night, I got
2 bottles of Tide plus Downy, on sale for $8.97, used $1 coupons to make them $6.97
Purex laundry pods, on sale for $2.50, used 50 cent coupons to make them $1.50.
Alberto V05 shampoos, on sale for 79 cents. I had coupons for $1 off three, making them about 13 cents a bottle! Even without using the double coupon, they would only be 46 cents a bottle with that price and the coupon.
But WAIT! There's more! I also used my points that I had been accumulating, I had $7 worth that I could use, which brought my total to under $10! That made the shampoo and Purex pods basically free and the Tide about $4.50 a bottle before tax.
Have I ever mentioned that I love coupons?

Last Day!
Today is the last day you can enter the contest for a coupon for free Dry Idea deodorant over at According 2 Mandy! Don't wait!!!!!
Hopefully...
Hopefully I will be able to write more this week. I started a new infant in my child care last week. And while things went really well, it still made it a little (actually A LOT!) chaotic and crazy around here. And I was flat worn out by the end of each day.
Praying that each of you have a wonderful week!

Does it really cost more to eat healthy?
As I've been talking about in my personal blog: Crockpot Cruise, Tom and I have been making some changes in our lifestyle and working on getting healthier. We're both working out and we are eating healthier. I cannot count the number of times I have heard people say that it costs more to eat healthy and I always thought they were right. But what I'm finding out is that if you follow a good commonsense nutrition plan and watch your portions, it doesn't have to cost more. I have not seen our grocery bill increase at all since we started eating healthier.I know it costs us less when we go out to eat because we're eating smaller amounts or we're bringing home part of our meal to eat at another meal.
One of the first people that I heard actually bust this myth was Jill Cooper of Living on a Dime. She talks about it in one of her books that I reviewed: Penny Pinching Mama. In the book, she talks about how she controlled her family's portions while insuring that they followed a basic healthy eating plan. For an online article by Jill about healthy eating, go here.
Where did this myth start then? Well, I think alot of it is from eating those diet fad foods, like the low fat items from a few years ago, or the Atkin's and other low-carb items from more recently. Those kinds of specialty foods do tend to cost quite a bit more. But choosing healthy, well-balanced foods does not.
Want some help choosing and personalizing your own healthy eating plan? Check out Choose My Plate.
Don't take my word for it! I challenge you to check it out for yourself!

Free buffet coupon from Cici's Pizza
I am a member of Cici's Pizza e-mail club and got a coupon for a free buffet for dads this week (with the purchase of another adult buffet). I don't know if you'll get it if you join now, but it's worth a try. I get some pretty good coupons from them.

Product Review: Propel Zero fitness water
This week, I received a free sample of Propel Zero fitness water in the mail to try. It was the Kiwi-strawberry flavor. Propel fitness water adds Vitamins C, E, and B along with antioxidants and flavoring to water with no added calories and no artificial colors. It's a little packet of powder that you add to a bottle of water or a 16 ox glass of water.
What did I think? I really liked it, especially the kiwi-strawberry flavor. I love drinking water and try to drink lots of it, but every once in a while, it's nice to mix it up and have a little flavor added to it.
I was a little disappointed that they didn't send me a coupon so I could go buy more and try it out. Don't these people realize I need coupons? LOL. I will watch for a good deal on these and try them out. Tom liked them too, so this might be a nice substitution for soft drinks and a change of pace from the Crystal Light Energy stuff we've been drinking, too.

Do you ever get burned out on using coupons?
Do you ever get burned out on using coupons? I know I do. It makes me wonder how you guys get through it and get back in the groove. Right now I"m not so much burned out as I am kind of out of practice. For the last few months (since before Serenity's wedding/reception), we've been using up our stockpile of stuff and doing very little buying or coupon shopping. So now it's time to get going again.
My ideas:
1. Just do it! I sat down this morning and cut out yesterday's coupons that I wanted. Put the rest in a file folder in case I found a great deal I needed. I'm already looking at this week's ads and picking out what I need. I saw Gain on sale at Family Dollar and I have some coupons for that, and I know Kraft cheese is on sale at United this week (I actually got my ad BEFORE the sale, LOL).
2. If you can, do what we've been doing and just live off your stockpile for a while. Sometimes you need to do that anyway, just so you don't turn into a hoarder.
3. Find some good website or books for inspiration. What are your favorite coupon or money saving sites? Share them in the comment section and I'll review some of them!

Day #3 of headache
I am on day number three of a killer headache. I've had a full house (or close to it) in my child care everyday this week and a little girl who isn't real fond of naps, so it's been kind of crazy. I'm feeling very blessed to be so full in the summertime though so I'm not complaining!
Anyway, I just wanted to update and let you guys know I'm still here.

Gift Hulk: point earning website
I have recently learned of another point earning website called Gift Hulk. It is similar to other ones out there where you can use it as your search engine to earn points (points awarded randomly), you can take polls or surveys to earn points, you can earn points through referrals. Then you can use those points to redeem for items such as Amazon gift cards, PayPal gift cards, and lots of other items in their store.
I signed up for their webmaster program which means that if you use a special code that I give you, you will automatically earn 25 extra coins when you sign up. Here is my referral link (You have to use this link to be able to use the special code).
http://www.gifthulk.com/refer/KiddoKare
The first nine people to e-mail me and request the special code will get it (it is limited to 10 people and I already gave it to one). E-mail me at Tracy.Hinton@gmail.com. Hurry so you don't miss out!

Google Offers
This week, I tried out buying a deal from Google Offers for the first time. It is a 2 night stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Oklahoma City for $149 (regular $298). Our room will have a Jacuzzi in it. We're going to use it in December to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I had been watching for a deal like that through Groupon or something, so I was super excited to find this one.
Have you tried out Google Offers? What did you think? Share your story!

Summertime deals
With Memorial Day coming up Monday, it's the unofficial start of summer. Summer is a great time to stock up on deals on pork and beans, ketchup, BBQ supplies, sunscreen, razors, bug spray, and other summer essentials. Around Memorial Day and the 4th of July, sometimes you can find good deals on hamburger meat, hot dogs, and other foods that are great for grilling.
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone. It's my daughter's last weekend here before she goes to Colorado next week so I'm not sure how much I'll be around.
Remember to honor those who serve our country this weekend.

So what does this say about me?
Yesterday, we went out to lunch after church with Serenity & Anthony, Tasha, and Josh to celebrate my birthday. I picked Mazzio's because it was close to where Josh works and he was going to meet us on his lunch break and well, because they have free drinks on Sundays. LOL. When Serenity and Josh found that out, they both asked me (separately) if I picked it because of the free drinks on Sundays. LOL!! Either I'm really transparent or my children know me really well. I also picked it because I love pizza though. And it's one indulgence I want to enjoy occasionally, even with the healthier eating plan.

Product review: Haan Duo Steam Sweeper and Floor Sanitizer
I mentioned on my Crockpot Cruise blog about my garage sale find last week, a Haan Duo Steam Sweeper and Floor Sanitizer for $15. I went looking to see how good of a deal I got and found out that particular model has been discontinued now, but you can still get one on Amazon for $79.95 (regular price $149.95), so either way, I think I got a great deal.
I LOVE this thing! I have a Shark floor sanitizer which steam cleans the floor, you can read my review on that here.
What I like about the Haan is the sweeper part with the brushes. It cleans the floor so much faster and easier than the Shark steamer. As you can imagine, my floor can get pretty yucky with these kids. Now don't get me wrong, I still like the Shark, but I think this Haan will be much more effective for use on my kitchen floor. Since it's been discontinued, I plan to go ahead and buy some extra pads for it so that I'll have them.

Product Review: Tide Pods
Recently, I got a free sample of Tide Pods in my mailbox. I tried it out yesterday with a load of laundry. Here are my thoughts:
I really liked the scent. It smelled good, but wasn't overpowering. Again, the convenience of being able to just toss that little pod in was really nice. These would be super for college students or others who have to use laundromats.
I have to confess that I don't really get the whole "pod" thing, it seems like everyone is coming up with their detergent in some kind of pod. This concerns me because you can't stretch the bottle of box of detergent that way, there is only a certain number of loads per package. And although I haven't actually checked the prices, I suspect that the pods cost quite a bit more per use than buying regular liquid or powder on sale and using a coupon.
I was also disappointed that they didn't enclose a coupon for me to go find a whole package to try. Would I go out and buy it? Possibly, if I found a good sale and had a coupon. It would be great for Tasha to use at college next year.

Purchase $40 worth of participating P&G products in one transaction and get a $10 Visa prepaid card in the mail. (Pick up form at the service desk)
They also have all these P&G products listed on sale with double coupons, so I'm not sure if they're running a double coupon special on those or all around this week. If anyone knows, please let me know. I couldn't see details anywhere in the ad.

In my e-mail the last couple of mornings, I have received e-mails from some of my subscriptions (Hillbilly Housewife and Living on a Dime to be exact) offering a great deal to help The Menu Mom (Christine Steendahl) bring a Ukrainian boy to the United States to visit this summer. You can get over $440 worth of products for $15 through this sale. Check it out here!

Treasure Hunting
Tom and I went to Stillwater and met up with a friend of mine, her husband, and their daughter on Saturday. We did some treasure hunting (aka dumpster diving, LOL) at the dorms. You would not BELIEVE the stuff those kids throw away. My goodness!!! Some of the stuff we found:
2 office chairs (we took one, they took one)
Towels (brand new-didn't look like they'd ever been used!)
bath mat (also didn't look used)
comforter
clothes (and not ratty clothes-pretty nice looking clothes just tossed in the dumpster)
They took most of that stuff to wash up and donate to a shelter where they live.
Trash cans! Who the heck throws away trash cans with nothing wrong with them?????
A broom and a mop (didn't look like they'd been used either)
All kinds of plastic containers, carts, etc.
Two vacuum cleaners! One of them didn't work, but the other one did.
There was lots more stuff, but we both ran out of room in our cars. So, judge me if you want, but I had a great time. LOL. What's better than cheap? FREE!!!!!!!

Sorry I've been Missing in Action. Just seems there's been lots going on the last couple of weeks with my oldest daughter getting married. Plus for some reason, I've had a hard time writing for anything lately. So, I'm going to set some goals for myself. I will post in this blog at least once per day (even if it's just to say I've got nothing to say) LOL.

Stormy night
Well, last night was a scary, stormy night here in Grant County, Oklahoma. As far as I know, noone was hurt, but my aunt & uncle lost their home (please pray for them!). There is lots of wind damage and trees, etc. down here in Pond Creek. But for the most part, I feel very lucky. I am sad about this tree though. It survived a late spring ice storm a few years ago that almost split it in half. Wonder if it will survive this:

Product review: Purex Ultra Packs
I recently got a free sample of the new Purex Ultra Packs to try. The premise is that the detergent is in the little packets and you just toss them in the washer and do not have to worry about measuring or pouring your detergent in.
What I liked about it:
I was a little concerned about what the smell would be like but it was pleasant and gentle, not overpowering.
It was easy to use, I just tossed it in and ran the washer.
My concerns:
Well, since it's just Tom and I, there are lots of times that we do not have a full load of laundry and I'd rather use a little less detergent. So for that purpose, I prefer measuring out for my laundry.
Since Tom tends to have allergy issues, I was worried it would cause problems for him, but it did not. Phew!
Would I buy this again? Possibly, if I found a really good deal on it.

Review: Half.com "Instant Sale"
A few weeks ago, Natasha asked me to see if I could sell some of her textbooks on half.com. They had been listed for a while, but sometimes it will give you the option to sell instantly to someone who is looking for the book for a certain price. So I went in to check it out and see if there was anyone looking for those books. There wasn't, but I discovered that Half.com has started a new program called "Instant Sale" where you look up what you have and a 3rd party company will evaluate the books (or other items) and make you a tentative offer. You are then able to accept that offer, print off a pre-paid mailing label and mail the books at no cost to you. I was offered $28 for the two books and so I accepted it and mailed the books in. That was on April 3rd. The website said you could expect payment within 5 days of the item being received and approved. On April 10th, I got an e-mail saying the items had been received and when I logged in, it said that not only were they approved, but they offered me a little more than originally offered-$32 instead of the $28. (After they get the books and make the offer, you have the right to refuse it if it's lower than originally quoted and they will mail the books back to you at no cost.) So...expecting the money in a few days, I went ahead and transferred the money to Tasha on that Friday, the 13th.
On Monday the 23rd, I still hadn't got the payment, so I sent in a contact form asking about it. I was told it could take up to 22 days from the original date (which was April 3rd). My payment was finally there this morning (April 26th). I went and looked again after getting the reply and it says nothing about 22 days, it says:
So, anyway, my review of this service is this. Would I recommend it? Sure, it was a great program and I was glad for Tasha to be able to sell her books. Just don't expect to sell and get "paid quickly" as they are advertising on their main page. As long as you're aware of that, then I say, try it out and see if you can get some extra $'s!

Blogger paragraph problem
After searching through the forums, I figured out how to fix the paragraph problem. When you're composing, up in the left hand corner of your screen, there are "compose" and "html" buttons. Make sure the "compose" button is pushed.
Trying it out...
Hoping it works.

Really annoyed with Blogger
I am really annoyed with Blogger. It upgraded last week and now my posts have no paragraph breaks. I don't know what to do to fix it and it's annoying me. Just wanted you guys to know that I do not write all in one big blob like these posts have been showing up. GRRRRRR.
Site Review: Coupon Chief
I have been asked by the site Coupon Chief to review their site for compensation. All the opinions stated in this post are my own.
What I liked about the site: I like the way they have the coupons organized. It is very easy to find what you like on the site and there is also a tag section to search for popular items like Mother's Day or gifts. For example, in the Mother's Day section, there is currently a Shutterfly coupon to get a free 5x7 photo with 99 cents shipping. Another thing I really like is the "Did it work" feature letting readers know whether the coupon worked for other people. After clicking on the Shutterfly coupon, I got a button asking if the coupon worked for me.
Besides the "popular" tags, the site is divided into different stores. For example, if you are looking specifically for a coupon to Staples, you can go to the Staples section and explore the coupons there. Subscribers can add their own coupons as they find them.
On the right side of the coupons, it will have a logo saying whether it worked for others and on some coupons, it had "success" rates, like 10%, etc.
On the Coupon Chief blog, they list current promotions.
On the tutorial page, you can watch a video and learn more about how Coupon Chief works.
Joining the site is simple and free and there is also a free e-mail newsletter that you can sign up for. There is also a Pays 2 Share section where you can get paid for uploading coupons; you'll get a percentage of the sales from anyone who actually clicks on and uses that coupon.
Coupon Chief is also an Facebook, Twitter, and has an RSS feed.
What I didn't like: I had to wonder why coupons that had a o% success rate were left on the site. Why aren't they pulled down if they do not work?
Overall, I am very impressed with Coupon Chief and will definitely be looking to it first for coupon codes when I need to save $'s. I highly recommend everyone check it out!

Mexican Chicken
This recipe is so simple and it's one of Tom's favorites. I got it from my favorite cookbook: Dining on a Dime, from Living on a Dime. She cooks it in the oven, but you know me, I cook it in the crock-pot!
You just need:
1-2 pounds chicken (I use boneless, skinless breasts)
1 cup salsa
shredded cheese (optional)
Spray your crock-pot or slow cooker with cooking spray. Place the chicken in the bottom and pour the salsa over the top. I cook it on high for about an hour, then turn it down to low. I can start this around 11:00 or noon and it will be ready in plenty of time for supper. Simple and healthy and did I mention yummy????

Review: Quaker Oatmeal Squares
I got a free box of Quaker Oatmeal Squares in the mail recently. They were the Honey Nut variety. And what can I say? I LOVED them! They were lightly sweetened but not so much that they sent my blood sugar crazy and they stayed crunchy in the milk. Some of the best cereal I have ever eaten. I got a $1 off coupon with the box and I can't wait to find a good sale and get some more!

Lemon Pepper Chicken
This is one of my family's favorite chicken recipes. We chop it up and eat it in salads, make chicken salad out of it, or just eat it as an entree. Very simple and easy:
Lemon Pepper Chicken
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (bone-in works too)
1-2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
Lemon pepper seasoning to taste
Put the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker, pour the melted margarine over the top, and sprinkle with lemon pepper. I like to cook it on high for an hour or so, then turn it down. I can start this around noon and it will be done in plenty of time for supper.

Brown Derby Steaks
This is the recipe I posted about on Facebook. These things are AMAZING! They are kind of time consuming, but well worth it! They are really good over rice or mashed potatoes.
BROWN DERBY STEAKS
2 Pounds hamburger meat
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 tsp prepared mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Combine beef, egg, broth, mustard, salt, pepper, and worcestershire sauce. Shape into 8 patties (Patties will be soft). Brown in a bit of butter. Arrange in baking dish (I use a cake pan)
Gravy
2 cans beef gravy (or 2 packages brown gravy)
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 Tbsp butter
In saucepan, combine beef gravy, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and butter. Simmer for 2 minutes, and pour over patties. Bake for 30 minutes in 350 oven.
