Check for expired coupons
Lots of coupons will be expiring today so check your binders and get rid of the expired ones. Nothing more embarrassing or depressing than thinking you got a great deal and realizing as you're checking out that your coupons are expired. LOL.

Keep an eye out for fall clearance items
With Thanksgiving over and Christmas fast approaching, keep an eye out for fall clearance items. Fall decorative and themed items will be getting marked down. I got some really nice honey colored bowls for $1.50 (a 4 pack) last week. They are big and sturdy and will be great for soups, cereal, etc.
Women of Faith bargain
I keep forgetting to share about my Women of Faith bargain. First of all, I won a gift bag that our group leader was giving away. It had a t-shirt, 2 books, and a worship music CD in it. Then our group leader gave us each little treat bags and in it were $5 coupons good for the Women of Faith vendors. Now in all the years I've been going to Women of Faith, I have avoided the vendors because it's too tempting to buy stuff. So I took my $5 coupon and went looking. I found a devotional/journal book that was $10 and so I bought it, with the coupon, I got it for $5. After I got home, I noticed on the back that it was normally priced $20! So I got a great deal and now I have a nice little hardback journal.

Mandy's Black Friday Deals
Mandy from Work at Home Adventures shared her great Black Friday deals with us!
We had a great day of Black Friday shopping. We started out at Wal-Mart. I got the Shark floor cleaner for $38 which saved $21! It works amazing. I also got towels for $1.28 and kids pajamas for as low as $4.47! We picked up a few other small things. After that, we went home for the night and stayed up. We moved on to Sears where we stood in line for 45 minutes outside. It actually wasn’t too cold. We got a side by side refrigerator we have been wanting. It is normally $1379 and we only paid $699 for it! That savings alone was worth the entire night.
The last place we went to was JC Penney’s. We got my husband a suit jacket for $70 that is normally $180. He also got several shirt/tie sets cheap and some dress pants that are normally $70 for only $25! Over all it was a great night of shopping and we saved a ton of money!
I also went to Old Navy on Thanksgiving day. They had coats that are normally $55 for only $20. I used a coupon which made them $16.50 each!

We needed a new coffeemaker and Wal-mart had one on sale for $9.44 so I got that, plus a Shark floor cleaner for $38, not sure how much it usually was. It was crazy!!!!! Oh my goodness! I think next time I might just pay full price for a coffeemaker. LOL.

Coupons by Dede review
Last week I submitted my first order to Coupons by Dede on Wednesday. I paid $6.04 for 10 Libby's $1/4 vegetable coupons, 20 $1/2 Libby's fruit coupons, and 5 $1/4 Progresso soup coupons. The coupons arrived very quickly, I got them on Friday, that was very impressive. As I checked my order, I discovered that I had 22 fruit and 8 vegetable. That was a little disappointing. I e-mailed them right away and got an e-mail this morning that they would be sending me out the other Libby's coupons and have issued me a store credit (I am not sure for how much).
So, overall, I would definitely recommend Coupons by Dede, I thought that was a very small mistake considering the number of coupons they probably package and mail out each day.

Mandy's great clearance deal!
My niece Mandy from Work at Home Adventures shared this great clearance deal she got yesterday at Wal-Mart:
I went into Wal-Mart to try and find a small tote to hold my daughters squinkies. These little toys are all over the house. I found this and it was marked $4.97. I also bought a package of cups that was marked $1.97. When I checked out, the cups rang up $1.50 so I thought wow I saved money. Then the tote rang up for only 50 cents!! I was shocked! I went back and got 5 more and got them all for the same price! You just never know when you might get lucky, but if you do take advantage of the deal!

Pretty Bummed
Well, noone came to my first class tonight. I was pretty disappointed. But I guess it gives me more time to fine tune it, right?
A chance to help
If your stockpile is getting a little too high and you want the chance to share with a family who needs help. Our church has a family of 5 we are doing a food shower for. The dad recently had back surgery and will be off work for several weeks. He works for a farmer so he doesn't get paid while he is off. With it being Thanksgiving and Christmas time, this is an especially tough time for this to be going on. Anyway, if you have stuff you'd like to donate, let me know and I can get it to the church. But most importantly, keep this family in your prayers. Thanks!

Product Review: Progresso Creamy Mushroom Soup
Generally, I buy the condensed mushroom soups for cooking, but recently I bought some of the Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup on sale with a coupon. A large can of it was around $1 with the coupon.
I've used it to make roast twice now. It's not condensed, so I just pour it in the bottom of the slow cooker. Instead of having diced mushrooms, it has whole mushroom slices in it which Tom loves. It has a really good flavor and makes our roast taste really scrumptious.
We haven't tried it on it's own, so I can't really say how it is alone. But for cooking and recipes, I'd highly recommend the Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup.

Product Review: Planters Peanut Butter
We aren't generally name brand snobs when it comes to most foods. But when it comes to peanut butter, we pretty much have to go name brand. We had been using the Great Value (Wal-Mart) Peanut Butter and the Peter Pan (when I found it on sale) until the whole salmonella thing a few years ago with them. I haven't bought either since then. Just can't bring myself to do it! So since then, regardless of price, I've pretty much stuck to Jif. A few months ago, we were out of peanut butter and I was at the grocery store in Medford. They had a new peanut butter out by Planters. Since it was new, it was on sale. So I thought, well, it's Planters, it's got to be good, right? So I bought it and it got the Tom stamp of approval! He liked it as well, if not better than the Jif! Since then, I've got several great deals on the Planters peanut butter. I got it on sale for 99 cents a jar at United, and even got one jar for 49 cents with a store coupon. We've tried both the creamy and crunchy and they're both really good.
If your family likes peanut butter, I highly recommend giving the Planter's peanut butter a try!

This weekend
I am leaving early Friday morning for the Women of Faith conference in OKC. I will be gone until late Saturday evening. I have some blogs scheduled to post, but I wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case it takes me a while to get back to you or reply, etc.
Coupon Binders
Here are some more pictures of the coupon binders. Each binder will have 15 regular (9 slot) baseball card pages, 2 four slot pages, and 2 three slot pages, 12 labeled dividers, and an index page. I could use some input on what to charge for these. I've got about $6-$8 into them already with the binders and baseball card pages. That's not counting the ink and cardstock for the cover page and dividers.
You can see the fronts of the binders at this post: Which do you like better?

Price Book
These are the price books that I am making to sell at my classes. Each book has 15 pages and a cover page. Each page will be to track the prices of one item. As of right now, I am planning to hole punch them for people to either put into their coupon binders or to put into a binder or folder of their own. I need some input on prices though. I'm not very good at this! Thoughts?
Watch those Register Reward expiration dates!
If you are going to Walgreen's to do some of your coupon shopping, be sure and watch your Register Reward expiration dates. They can sneak up on you and expire. I've noticed they usually expire two weeks from the date issued. I recently had a couple of $1 RR's expire because I forgot about them. I looked for them on the day that I thought they expired and couldn't find them. So I thought I must have used them and didn't remember. Well, turns out I hadn't. I found them a few days later. UGH. $2 down the drain! I don't like that!
So, pick a spot to put your RR's in your coupon binder (or whatever you use) and make sure you use them before they expire!

Have you tried Swagbucks?
Have you tried Swagbucks? I signed up for it a few months ago after hearing Money Saving Queen talk about it. I have earned almost 2000 points as of yesterday. The points can be redeemed towards gift cards or tons of other things in the Swag Store. Most of my points were earned through doing searches on Swagbucks (rather than Google), some by doing surveys, and some by using Swagcodes. I turned in some of my points yesterday towards Amazon gift cards and plan to turn in some more today. It is 450 points for a $5 gift card so I should be able to get $20 worth with what I have so far. If you haven't signed up and do decide to sign up, please sign up under me because I get credit for that.
If you are interested, let me know and I'll figure out how to send you an invitation.

Product Review: Red Gold Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
I have decided to do some product reviews of items that I have bought on sale and/or with coupons that we might not have tried before.
First item up is: Red Gold Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies (similar to Rotel). I bought these at United for 25 cents a can a few weeks ago. I used a couple of cans with a block of Velveeta cheese to make nacho dip recently. This turned out so much better than using salsa (which is what I normally use). The dip was spicy but not so spicy I couldn't eat it (I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy food). I also used a can this past weekend in some homemade cheese sauce I made and it also turned out really well.
Bottom line, I was impressed with the Red Gold Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies product. I will definitely buy it again! (Note, it is on sale for 50 cents a can starting Wednesday, November 9th at Jumbo's in Enid).

K-mart Ad November 6th-12th
This week at K-mart:

How do you organize your trips?
My friend Frazzled Mom asked an excellent question in the comment section. So I'm posting it so I can write a blog about it. She wants to know how you organize your trips? And how do you keep track at the register? Post in the comment section and let me know!
Count Chocula cereal for 99 cents a box!
I was in Jumbo's picking up the Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Coke 20 packs and the 10 pound bag of potatoes that were on sale when I saw Count Chocula marked down to 99 cents a box! Tom loves Count Chocula and I'm sure the kids will enjoy it too. They didn't expire until next August so the only reason I can figure they marked them down was that they must have been seasonal for Halloween.
United Bargains November 5th, 2011
I went to United this morning and got:

refilled 4 gallons of water (not pictured)
1 dozen eggs ($1.19 on sale, minus 50 cents from the rain check coupon for 69 cents)
My total was $8.99!

What if you run into problems?
It is probably unavoidable that you will run into some kind of problem when you're couponing. Frequently, the problem is with an untrained cashier. I had a cashier who griped the entire time she was scanning my coupons as if those 35 cent coupons were coming directly out of her pocket!
What is the best way to handle these problems? Make sure you are in the right. Ask to see the coupon just to double check the small print (remember my $3 only good in Canada coupon? LOL).
Remain calm and friendly. (this one is a real challenge for me!). When I used some of my Bar S coupons last Saturday, I had the cashier try to tell me that I couldn't use them on the garlic bologna because it was for original only. Which is NOT what it said at all. It said "ANY package of 16 oz Bar S franks or bologna". I patiently pointed that out to her. Turns out the reason the coupon wouldn't scan was because the meat was marked down so it wasn't scanned into the register using the bar code (which I had tried to tell her already, but whatever, LOL).
Next, if necessary, call a manager over and ask them for help. Still remain calm and friendly (again, still a challenge for me). On Saturday on the same United trip, I had a manager get really hateful with me because he was going to have to "manually enter every one of those coupons". I had 6 coupons. It wasn't like I had 100 of them! I just bit my tongue and let it go (although I am still considering writing a letter to the corporate office)
What if things cannot get worked out and you KNOW you are right? Sometimes you just have to walk away and try again later. But whatever you do, do not let it discourage you from using coupons. Cashiers and managers have bad days, just like we do. Just take a deep breath and walk away. If you're still bothered by it a few days later, you can look into writing a letter to the company to voice your concerns.

Coupon advice from Kate Gosselin?
Kate Gosselin from "Jon & Kate plus 8" and "Kate plus 8" is starting a new job as a coupon blogger for Coupon Cabin later this month.
Now, I never watched either shows so the little bit I know about Kate Gosselin is what I've heard on entertainment news. What are your thoughts on this? Will you take coupon advice from Kate Gosselin? Do you think this is a publicity ploy to get more people to visit the Coupon Cabin site? Share your thoughts in the comment section!

Just noticed a great United deal
I just noticed a great United deal I missed this morning. Shedd's Spread Country Crock 15 oz is on the 4 day sale this weekend for $1.19. There is a coupon for $1 off in this month's All You magazine. As far as I could see, it didn't have any size limitations meaning you could get a container of margarine for 19 cents! WOW!
Which one do you like better?
I am making some coupon binders to sell in my class. I'm wanting some feedback on which cover page looks better, the color one or the white one?
Remember to check out those clearance aisles!
Remember to check out those clearance aisles when you're shopping. Yesterday, Mandy from Work at Home Adventures found packages of mashed potatoes normally 79 cents marked down to 29 cents at Aldi's! If the item you are buying is close to expiring, it can probably be frozen to keep it fresh until you're ready to use it! Sometimes you can even match up a coupon with a clearance item to maximize your savings even more.
Frazzled Mom's Great Deals!
My friend Frazzled Mom shared her great deals with us!
You said that you would be interested in knowing what kinds of deals we got. I went grocery shopping today at Homeland in Henryetta, OK and managed to get my bill of $328 down to $199. I jumped for joy when it went under $200..the girl behind me was even rooting me on, lol.
This purchase mostly included Laundry, Cleaners, Personal care items and Medications.
My two best deals: 1) Jimmy dean biscuits (bacon egg n cheese) whcih are normally almost $6 were marked down by the grocer to $2.99 and I had a 75cent coupon that doubled to $1.50. I got three. 2) Febreeze diffuser, which is normally almost $10 was on sale for $5.41 and I had a $4 coupon. woot

Mandy's After Halloween Sale Finds
Read about what Mandy from Work at Home Adventures got at the after Halloween sales yesterday!
Today I went shopping for after Halloween sales. At Walgreens, I found nail polish for 50% off that I bought my daughter. It made it 99 cents each. The best deals were at Wal-Mart. Make sure you remember what Tracy said about price checking because a few things were not on sale when I went to check out and I just did not get them. If you go there, make sure you check the candy aisle as well where Halloween stuff is because I found part of it there. Here is what I got:
Package of 4 Straws (Reusable) – 47 cents
2 Cute Cat Straw Cups – 47 cents each
Box of 40 individual packages of pretzels - $2.48
Tissue Paper that is plain black and orange – 48 cents
Liquid Foaming Hand Soap - $1.23 each (I bought 8)
Sprinkles for Cupcakes – 94 cents
Kit to Make Candy Necklaces (Makes 8) - $1.62
