Gift card update

A few weeks ago, I posted about planning for Christmas now and a gift card savings plan for Christmas blog post I had found. Well, a couple of weeks ago when I shopped at Wal-Mart, I challenged myself to buy a gift card each time I shopped equal to at least the amount I saved in coupons. That day I had saved $11 and got a $25 card. Last week I won a $5 card at a meeting and last night I saved $12 on coupons at Wal-Mart and bought a $15 card. So in just a few weeks, I already have $45 put back towards Christmas shopping! Is that exciting or what?

I'm putting them in an envelope with little sticky notes on them saying how much the cards are worth. I'm also going to keep track of the total on the outside of the envelope.

Can't believe it

I have another cold and have felt lousy for the last few days.At least I think it's a cold. Either that or the worst allergies EVER!!!! Thank goodness I was off yesterday for spring break because I was worthless. Today I have two kids scheduled so I'm praying for a fairly easy day.

Cabbage 69 cents each (not sure how this compares to the 3 pounds for $1 price at Jumbo, I guess it would depend on how big Aldi's cabbage is.

Bought my first gift card for Christmas

Back in January, I posted about starting now to save for Christmas and shared a blog post I had found about buying gift cards throughout the year. Well for one reason or another, I hadn't started doing it yet so this past weekend I determined that I was going to buy a gift card at Wal-Mart for at least equal to the amount I saved using coupons (which ended up being $11). I bought a gift card for $25. I will start an envelope for the gift cards (and make sure I leave them at home so I don't get tempted to use them lol).

Boneless skinless chicken breasts $1.79 a pound
Tostitos Cantina or tortilla chips: 2/$4 (limit two). These are delicious by the way!
1# bag of carrots: 79 cents
Also, Jumbo's is celebrating their 26th anniversary so if you are the 26th customer who spends $26 or more, you get a spin on their prize wheel. They are also having drawings at the end of this month, so sign up for those while you're in the store!

United deals
Saturday, March 9th is "tax free" day where the Enid United stores will give you a discount on your purchase equal to the sales tax rate.
United is having some good frozen food deals this week. For example, buy 4 Totino's pizzas and get a box of pizza rolls for free, or buy 5 Michelina dinners (5/$5) and get a 6th one free. There are more, check them out in this week's ad.
